Registered Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) services are available at Pure Form Physio. Massage Therapy is a form of treatment whereby the clinician uses their hands to resolve or manage muscle and joint pain and postural problems. It can help increase flexibility, and reduce muscle tightness. Whether you are looking for stress relief, help for a new injury (e.g. low back pain), or a nagging chronic problem (e.g. a stiff and sore neck), massage therapy can be of assistance. Massage therapy is patient-centred, natural, and non-invasive.

A massage therapist may be the only practitioner you see, or they may work in tandem with other practitioners (e.g. physiotherapist, medical doctor) to assist you. Patients seek out massage therapy for the relief of pain and dysfunction brought on by:

  • sustained postures and positions, such as spending too much time on the computer
  • inflexibility and tightness that lead to symptoms of muscle pain
  • sports injuries
  • injury or chronic conditions such as arthritis
  • nerve irritation such as sciatica or carpal tunnel syndrome
  • the pain of whiplash from a motor vehicle accident

If you have been injured in an accident and ICBC has allowed you to receive treatment,  you can usually receive 12 visits with a Registered Massage Therapist. If you choose to do this, you can still receive your ICBC- covered physiotherapy visits.  The goal is to assist you to a full recovery, and physiotherapy and massage therapy combined (on separate days) has worked for many people on their road to feeling better.
